Cheddar, the ‘CNBC for Millennials,’ Goes Behind a Paywall 

The Cheddar service is part of Vimeo’s effort to become a destination for creators that want to build a Netflix of their own. Last week, Vimeo announced that it was buying VHX, a company that will help Vimeo make custom apps for would-be streaming entrants. The company hopes not only to entice small-time creators but also big media companies looking to launch subscription streaming offerings, in competition with other Web video tech companies like Major League Baseball Advanced Media, which powers HBO Now.
