New media license fees, which include online and digital music services, currently represent a relatively small portion of U.S. domestic music license fees, approximately $100 million of a total annual U.S. domestic PRO collection of $1.4 billion. Royalty distributions are made 50 percent to writers and 50 percent to music publishers after operating costs are taken into account, about 12-13 percent in the case of ASCAP foreign and BMI.
