Why Media Stock Mauling May Have Been Overdone

Media stocks fell sharply in early August after pay-TV subscriber declines accelerated and companies such as Walt Disney lowered their expectations for cable-affiliate revenue. The fear was that the cable bundle had reached a tipping point and the previous steady-drip decline of subscribers would become a waterfall. So far, third-quarter results don’t appear to back that up.
