As streaming video becomes more important to the television industry, not just for multiscreen services but for on-demand and even linear channels to set-top boxes, the pressure will grow on infrastructure and equipment providers to improve the ‘OTT’ experience and make it closer to what we might call ‘broadcast-grade’. Clearly this ambition is closely aligned with efforts to reduce broadband (OTT) network congestion and make streaming video more affordable for content owners and network operators.
